Promoting Enrollment in the Digital Global Economy (EDGE)

This project aims to develop the enrolment of Palestinian talent in the global digital economy through a two-pronged approach: firstly by developing Palestinian entrepreneurial capacities to develop qualified startups with a social orientation and secondly by developing freelancing agencies to unlock the sector’s full economic potential and increase employment among qualified youth and women. The project will create equitable jobs for youth and women and develop a sustainable and resilient model for the future of work. Now more than ever, such a model is needed with the growing economic hardships facing Palestinians. Over the past decade positive efforts have been made; various programs in Palestine have focused on skills enhancement by training thousands in areas such as coding, technology, media, and other in-demand services. These enhanced technical skills have not translated into securing employment.  Leaders International will develop ‘entrepreneurial’ skills of young socially oriented entrepreneurs which are crucial in securing work opportunities, including bidding, sales, marketing, payments, management and more. To achieve this goal, the project, through collaboration with preselected incubators, will train 850 young Palestinian women and men on the essential entrepreneurial skills required to fully take advantage of their technical backgrounds, through a digital Freelance Academy. Trainees will be encouraged to develop freelancing agencies that would create employment opportunities for more women and young people with the project providing 24 prospective agencies with tutoring and business development support.
